Philanthropy at St. Bernard's >>
Our history is your best reason to contribute
to our future.
The demographics of Humboldt County have changed over the
decades, but our mission remains the same-serving families
in the Catholic tradition of Faith-Intellect-Service. Many
alumni remember the influence the Sisters, priests, and lay
teachers had on their lives, yet have been unable to stay in
contact with the school. It is our intent to bring alumni,
friends and family back to SB. Over the years many of our
wonderful alumni and parents of alumni have passed on, yet
their spirit continues to fill the hallways of the school.
The history of sacrifice, devotion and perseverance is the
cornerstone of St. Bernard’s and of our patron saint, St.
Bernard Clarvioux. His devotion and perseverance led him to
serve Christ and His people with compassion, love, and
discipline. The relationship faculty have with students has
not changed as one may expect. Faculty respect the
individuality of each student as much today as it was ninety
years ago when the Sisters of St. Joseph opened the doors of
the first Catholic school in Eureka.
As we look to our future, we count on the continued
generosity of alumni, parents of alumni, and families to
close the operational gap, address the needs of students,
and to provide students the highest quality of education,
modern facilities, an expanded co-curricular program, and
tuition assistance.
Statistically 70% of our alumni live 225 miles or further to
some schools - a daunting challenge to connect. But to St.
Bernard’s, it's just another test of our Faith and perseverance.
We offer an education unlike any of the other schools on the
North Coast. Guidance, respect, compassion, resolve, Faith,
competitiveness, and intellect describe our students.
St. Bernard’s is able to take the student and mold the
individual into a person capable of critical thinking
skills, develop the ability to be willing to serve society
in a faith filled manner, and to debate and take a position
on a topic deemed controversial by today’s secular
standards. Faith-Intellect-Service describes the students of
St. Bernard’s.
