After graduating from Lodi High School in 1971, Mr. Brown
enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served in
the Republic of South Vietnam in isolated duty for a year.
For two years he was a motor lifeboat engineman, and was a
part of the Search and Rescue station in Humboldt Bay. Mr.
Brown received an honorable discharge in 1975. Mr. Brown
also worked as a fishing boat deckhand, a radio disc
jockey and newsman, a print reporter/photographer, a
building supply yardman, a truck driver, is a
prize-winning poet, and taught two years as a full time
substitute. Mr. Brown then taught 7th and 8th grade
combination class at Rio Dell High School. He took his
permanent profession as a Secular Franciscan in 2004. He
is a past vice commander of the local United States Coast
Guard Auxiliary unit where he functioned as a Master
Instructor and Vessel Safety Examiner. Mr. Brown is
married to Native Fortunan Rene Pelletier. They have two
children, Haley and Lucas. He is currently working on his
MA in Religious Education.
