Mrs.
Maher is an alumnus St. Bernard’s Elementary and High
School as is each of her four children. She has been
teaching at St. Bernard’s since 1968, spending the first
five years with the junior high level before moving across
the street to the high school. Mrs. Maher has taught all
levels of English besides Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra
II and Consumer math. She has served as English Department
Chair and Math Department Chair as well as class advisor
to freshman, sophomores, and seniors (20 years). She has
completed carious post-baccalaureate programs such as the
Redwood Writing Project and the Ashland Shakespearean
summer Institute for Teachers. She is a member of the
National Council of Teachers of English and the SBHS
Alumni and HSU Alumni Associations. In 2000 she was
inducted into the St. Bernard’s High School Alumni
Association Hall of Fame for her years of service and
dedication to the school. Her hobbies include reading,
watching athletic events, traveling, and outdoor
activities.
